Dear Triathlon WA Members,
We would like to inform you about some recent changes and role updates in our office team. As we continue to improve our support for athletes, clubs, and events, several staff roles are in the process of being restructured to better serve our community. These changes are designed to ensure we can meet the evolving needs of our members and the wider sport.
OFFICE STAFF ROLES AND SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Mel Farley – Executive Director
No changes to role / title
In collaboration with the TWA Board, Mel is responsible for driving strategy and direction for the organisation, and managing its day-to-day operations including staff.
Janine Kaye – Athlete & Coach Development Manager
Previously Pathway Lead
We have re-merged the roles of Coaching Education Administrator and Pathway Lead, forming the role Athlete and Coach Development Manager. In this role, Janine oversees coaching accreditation and development, working directly with WA coaches to upskill our community. Janine also manages the TWA Pathway Program / Team WA including the Futures Squad, Junior and U23 Squad, and Youth Squad with over 90 members in season 2024/25.
Lauren Huddy – Sport Development Manager
Previously Membership and Marketing Manager
Lauren will now oversee Membership, Club Development, Programs, and Partnerships, bringing her expertise and dedication to these crucial areas.
Tarquin Bateman – Communications & Marketing Coordinator
Previously Events and Marketing Coordinator
Tarquin manages all online communications for TWA including website management, social media management and content, event promotion, advertising, merchandise, and athlete services for Every Woman Triathlon and Busselton Festival of Triathlon.
Cathy Hoare – Technical Coordinator
Previously Technical and Sanctioning Officer
Cathy coordinates Event Sanctioning, One Day Licence fees, and Insurance compliance, as well as the team of Technical Officials, handling their recruitment, accreditation and rostering. This is a key role in our organisation which directly supports local events, race directors and the success of the sport year to year.
Karina Preston – Event Operations Coordinator
New Role commencing September 2024
This role takes on part of the responsibility of the previous Commercial Events Operations Manager, driving the success and delivery of TWA owned events including the Annual Awards, Every Woman Triathlon, and Busselton Festival of Triathlon.
